چکیده

This article evaluates different improvements of Laurent Itti’s (Itti et al., 1998) visual attention model. Sixteen persons have participated in a qualitative evaluation protocol on a database of 48 images. Six different methods were evaluated, including a random fixations generation model. A real time conspicuity maps generation algorithm is also described. Evaluations show that this algorithm allows fast maps generation while improving saliency maps accuracy. The results of this study reveal that preys / predators systems can help modelling visual attention. The relatively good performances of our centrally biased random model also show the importance of the central preference in attentional models.

Models of Bottom-Up Attention and Saliency

Visually conspicuous, or so-called salient, stimuli often have the capability of attracting focal visual attention towards their locations. Several computational architectures subserving this bottom-up, stimulus-driven, spatiotemporal deployment of attention are reviewed in this article. The resulting computational models have applications not only to the prediction of visual search psychophysi...

Modeling Maintenance Effort by Means of Dynamic Systems

The dynamic evolution of ecological systems in which predators and preys compete for surviving has been investigated by applying suitable mathematical models. Dynamic systems theory provides a useful way to model interspecie competition and thus the evolution of predators and preys populations. This kind of mathematical framework has been shown to be well suited to describe evolution of economi...

Dynamical Behavior of a Stochastic Ratio-Dependent Predator-Prey System

Ecological systems are mainly characterized by the interaction between species and their surrounding natural environment 1 . Especially, the dynamic relationship between predators and their preys has long been and will continue to be one of the dominant themes in both ecology and mathematical ecology, due to its universal existence and importance 2– 4 . The interaction mechanism of predators an...

Sensitive predators and endurant preys in an ecosystem driven by correlated noises

We investigate the Volterra ecosystem driven by correlated noises. The competition of the predators induces an increasing in population density of the predators. The competition of the preys, however, leads the predators to decay. The predators may have better stability under strong correlated noises. The predators undergo a sensitivity to a random environment, whereas the preys exhibit a surpr...

Social Science Multilevel Simulation with MIMOSE

abstract This paper gives an overview of the modelling and simulation system MIMOSE, which consists of a model description language and an experimental frame for the simulation of models. The main purpose of the MIMOSE project was the development of a modelling language which considers special demands of modelling in social science, especially the description of nonlinear, quantitative and qual...
